Judd Trump has been in the Snooker press from a very young age and has appeared on the Main Tour for the last few years. However, it is only this season that 19-year-old Bristolian Judd has really started to make an impact.
His semi-final spot at last months Grand Prix is his greatest achievement to date and a quarter-final victory over Ronnie O’Sullivan to book that place proves that Judd has the game to play at the highest level.
Judd has now booked himself a ‘wildcard’ spot in January’s Masters event. He achieved this with a 6-1 win over Michael Joyce in the final of the qualifying event at EIS Sheffield.
It will be great for him to play in snooker’s biggest and most prestigious invitational event, once again in front of the BBC and Eurosport cameras.
I would not bet against Judd winning a tournament this season with perhaps the smaller Welsh Open as his main target.
As I write the UK Championship qualifiers are also in progress.
