Finally the Embeds are Working

Firstly, you will notice a completely updated version of the Cuesport TV Blog, it would be great to hear your opinions in the comments below.

On the right hand side of the blog you will see a small video player, this is an embedded video player running a Cuesport TV playlist. On this particular player it is running the featured videos from the front page of Cuesport TV but it can be used to run any selected list of videos from our archive.

Now we have it working (and it’s taken a while) we are offering custom made video players to other websites that may want one. You can have a custom size and also take some part in which videos you would like to have in the playlist.

The playlist is updated and maintained by ourselves and will contain ads, however, if you want a specific video to play on your website then we can adjust the list to suit you.

If you would like a custom Cuesport TV Video player for your website then please contact us on enquiries@cuesport.tv

Top 5 Most Watched Videos – Quarter Four 2011

Below you will find our top 5 most watched videos during the final quarter of 2011. Each one will be linked directly to the video on the Cuesport TV website.

Not surprising to be honest that 8-ball pool dominates very heavily in the top 5 list.

1. Richie Oliver v Simon Ward – Welsh Open Final – Takes the top spot for the whole quarter despite only being available since Monday 28th November!

2. European Blackball Championships – Under 23 Singles Final – Part 1 – Good to see the youth getting involved, David Carrie plays Chris Brown.

3. Darren Appleton v Daryl Peach – MMTV 3-Man Team Event – Two World Champions battle it out in a short race in the first MMTV 3-man team event, also the first 9-ball match to feature in the top 5.

4. Dish of the Day – Episode 7 – Gareth Potts – Former WEPF 8-ball World Champion makes it into the list with a nice dish against Oly Bale.

5. Oly Bale v Gareth Potts – Money Match – Part 10 of 10 – Final part of this big money match originally shown live in 2010.

So this is the top 5 according to our statistics but what was your favourite video to watch last year at Cuesport TV?

Booking in Dates for 2012

As there are no live events booked in for December it is a good time to start trying to fill in the calendar for 2012.

One of the big changes is that we will no longer be covering the Money Match TV series, quite simply it has been a drain on resources and our coverage cannot be continued without the aid of a sponsor, something that is difficult to find.

2012 is going to see us cover more 8-ball as it does seem to appeal better to our audience, our most watched videos have all come from the 8-ball categories on the website. They are also the most widely watched live events so we need to stick to what appeals to our audience.

This is not to say that we won’t try and mix up the content a bit. We still plan on covering elements of the GB 9 Ball Tour and some one-off events but the majority of our focus will be on 8-ball and our video on demand service.

There is already a potential event for January which looks reasonably exciting, once confirmed I will post the details.

February looks quite busy with the return of the Jersey Festival (to be confirmed) and the UPC-BUCS 8-ball event from Yarmouth. The UPC event is one of my personal favourites in the year and had been on the calendar for over 6 months so it is with regret that we will not be able to cover the first GB 9 Ball Tour event of 2012 – unless we can find a secondary team.

March is looking likely that we will cover the English Blackball Championships for the first time and this will be followed up by coverage of the EBA Masters in Bridlington.

If you know of an event that could do with some coverage and may be worth a Cuesport TV visit please do let us know.

And Finally…

I know it has taken an age, and all I can do is apologise, but finally we have released the final part of the Oly Bale v Gareth Potts £21,000 8-ball Money Match. We have had so many problems getting this particular video file to work properly but now it does!

You can watch it below:

Almost Perfect Pool

This video is definitely worth a watch. In an amazing match that lasted just 23 minutes one of the two players played almost perfect pool, in fact their only mistake was a scratch in frame number 5. The match was the final of the 2011 Welsh Open recorded in Sunday 27th November.

Watch it below and then please let us have your thoughts:

A Short Lived Return

It has been a very long time since I personally picked up a cue in anger. I don’t mean to use as a cosh in some bar brawl, but as the weapon of choice on a pool table.

Laughing aloud the organisers of the Welsh Open, a blackball event I am covering for Cuesport TV, told me they had put me in the main draw.

It would have been fine but for two things, I haven’t played any form of small ball game for about two years and I didn’t have a cue.

The cue problem was solved by borrowing a very nice Trevor White one piece owned by Paul Bushnell. I can’t reply you in words how nice that cue is!

Ok so we come to the second problem, not having played for a very long time.

I have to say I was strangely nervous, with no expectations I expected to be feeling quite relaxed. Not the case!

I won the lag and hit an awesome break. All the balls in situe for a nice dish, I didn’t take it out though failing on my final colour. Luckily though I got a second chance and went 1-0 up!

Second frame I made a nice clearance after my opponent failed to make his break work, and after a bit of a battle. This meant I was leading 2-0 in the best of nine match.

It went downhill from there though! He battled back to lead 3-2 even though I had a chance in every frame.

I did manage to level it in the next only to see him take the seventh frame.

The 8th frame saw a dry break from my opponent with a scratched white. I used my first shot to good effect and looked set to take out the frame only to go in off whilst getting position on the black – gutted!

I lost the game 5-3 and was reasonably pleased with my performance, may even have to start playing again now!

Set & Ready

Well GB9′s last event of 2011 started nearly 2 hours ago with the preliminary rounds in the Challenge Cup.

This will be joined by the first round of the Pro event later.

The tour continues to innovate and this time every one of the 16 tables have a laptop to input pigeons results that then pushes data straight put onto the web. There are also auto functions like calling the next matches automatically and ref’s being called to a table at the touch of a button.

It will be interesting to see how it goes down with the playing contingent and if there are any teething problems.

The live coverage from us starts tomorrow at 10.15am after we completed mortal of the setup this afternoon.

Please join us if you can at http://www.Cuesport.tv

European Blackball Mens Team Final – 2 of 2

European Blackball Ladies Singles Final

The good news is that we have also found the missing final part of the Oly Bale v Gareth Potts Money Match recorded in 2009. That has been uploaded and will be available shortly.

In addition there will be a lot of new 9-ball content coming this week as we finish off the content from the 3-man Team event and Money Match TV 13 and 14.

Two Upcoming Live Events

The end of November is our next foray into live web streams for your pleasure.

The first is on the 19th/20th November and is live coverage from the last leg of 2011 GB9 Ball Tour, the event is named the British Grand Prix but will still take place in Daventry.

There is a whisper that the GB9 Main event first prize will increase to £2000.00 next year but nothing as yet has been confirmed. This event though will be fierce as players like Jayson Shaw, Imran Majid, Daryl Peach, Craig Osborne and Chris Melling are all still in with a shout of gaining the coveted top spot on the rankings.

The GB9 Ball Tour pays out £500 bonus to the number 1 ranked player at the end of the year and a further £250 bonus to the player ranked number 2.

Our second event in November is the return of the Welsh 8-Ball Festival to your screens, we first covered this event back in 2009 but missed it last year due to prior commitments.

It will be great to be back as this really is a fantastic event held at Trecco Bay Holiday Park. There will be around 200 players converging on the venue across the five days and Cuesport TV will be on hand to cover the last 3 days. This will mean coverage from the Men’s and Women’s singles, the team event and the Junior finals.
