European Blackball Champs Live on Cuesport TV

I am very pleased to announce that once again we will be providing live coverage of the European Blackball Championships.

This bi-annual event takes place at the Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Country Club in Tullow, Ireland this year after last being held in the Isle of Man in 2009.

The live coverage available on Cuesport TV runs from Sunday 18th September through to the conclusion of the event on Thursday 22nd September. As with all Cuesport TV live events, this event is only available on PPV for the low price of only £4.99 for the whole 5 days of action.

Andy Lucas won the men’s individuals last time out and makes a welcome return to the England ‘A’ team as well. The most interesting thing is that the defending men’s champions, Scotland, are not attending the ‘A’ event. This opens the doors for a very strong team from France to put pressure on some of the other nations.

Find out more details at the European Blackball Association Website.

Each day I will attempt to update the blog with the days scheduled matches, this years event has made it easier to cover the singles events than in the past and I know that has a lot of appeal.

Please join us if you can, just £4.99 for 5 days of quality pool.

The Cuesport TV 8 Ball Classic – First Details

For some time we have been looking into running an event or two specific to Cuesport TV that we have complete control over.

The first of these will be the Cuesport TV 8-ball Classic.

The event is penciled in for the 22nd/23rd October at the fantastic BreaknDish Pool Club in Street, Somerset.

It will feature eight top quality 8-ball pool players battling it out for a winner-take-all prize of £4000.00 (coming from the £500-per-man entry fee).

Every single match will be shown live online across the weekend with each being a best of 29 frame match, the final will be extended to best of 37 frames.

Once the 8 players are confirmed a live draw will take place on the Friday before the event (FA Cup style). This is to be as transparent as possible, in order to suit the venue some of the start times may be adjusted but the draw will remain the same.

So far we have had interest from the likes of Simon Ward, Rob Chilton, Craig Marsh, Tom Cousins and Oly Bale but it has to be made clear that none of these players have yet confirmed.

If you would be interested in taking part in this event then it will be first-some first-served so please send an email to Pete Williams on pete.williams (@) cuesport.tv or call 01305 826486.

Can Osborne March On?

August has been a very interesting month for Craig Osborne. The Ipswich based cueist has had his second Main Tour win on the GB 9 Ball Tour, against old adversary Imran Majid, in what proved to be a very thrilling final.

He then followed this up by winning an amazing match against Matt Lawrenson at Money Match TV 14 in front of a sizeable crowd that were firmly behind his opponent.

There is no doubt that at the present time Osborne is the U’s most in-form player, the win at the GB9 event moved him up to his highest ranking of Number 2, just 7 points behind Imran Majid.

The tour returns this weekend with the Southern Masters, with the events all being held in the same venues now Osborne surely has a big chance to repeat his win three weekends ago?

You can, as ever, watch the GB9 Tour live on Cuesport TV. It is priced at £2.49 in advance and will increase to £4.99 over the weekend. Buy your tickets here: GB9 Southern Masters 2011

On the Saturday we have action from the Pro Cup event that will be down on numbers as Chris Melling and Tony Drago will not be around.

Who is likely to win this event? Have your say below.

Another Thriller

Craig Osborne was the big winner in yet another thrilling days pool at the Vegas Bar in Wakefield for Money Match TV 14.

His come from behind won left Matt Lawrenson and his travelling support winded as he potted the ball for a 21-20 victory.

Earlier in the same session Jamie Yates proved once again that he is no front runner with a 21-19 win over 16 year old Sam Hurst. Hurst was gutted after the loss as he was leading 19-15!

Other wins were enjoyed by Lee Brett, Mark Lunn, Elliott Sanderson and Mike Gibney.

Videos to follow.

Countdown is On

The match at 6pm tomorrow night between Lawrenson and Osborne is going to have an amazing atmosphere, so I am informed.

From what I understand there is a coach load of “up to 50″ people travelling with Matt from Wigan.

In the other corner Craig will only have one solitary fan, not because he is unpopular, but more due to the distance from Ipswich. If he can control the crowd (a la Adam Benn Smith v Andy Barnett) then he can win the game. On paper he is perhaps regarded as the more astute player but time will tell.

Matches start at 11.00am so sign up now at the usual web address to not miss a single ball!

Morning Session Complete

Well the morning session is complete and we have had our first two televised matches.

Damian Massey looked a real contender again in the Challenge Cup after beating last event runner-up Mark Lunn 9-2 to reach the last 16.

This was followed up with a real entertaining match as Tony Drago took on Chris Melling in the Last 16 of the Pro Cup event.

It was ‘The Tornado’ that stepped into the 1/4 finals with a 9-4 victory is a very high quality and fast-paced match.

Our televised quarter final will be Craig Osborne against Scott Higgins or Karl Boyes for a spot in the semi-finals.

Live updates are available here.

The matches are all race-to-9 racks, alternating break with the 3-point rule.

Two Champions Collide

On Saturday July 23rd Money Match TV history will be made as for the first time two current champions go head-to-head.

Arfan Dad, with a nine match winning streak, will be aiming to reach double figures in his match against Matt Lawrenson.

Lawrenson himself was a winner last time out against Kevin Uzzell and the former European Junior Champion will be looking to knock Arfan off his perch.

Money Match TV has always had four matches where the ‘winner-stays-on’ a bit like boxing, at this event it is the first time that two of these champions have come together.

Arfan and Matt recently contested the final of the British Amateur 9-ball Championships, played in the same venue, on the same table over the same match distance. It was Arfan that now goes into their money match on 23rd July with added confidence after winning that match 21-12 on Sunday, he said, “[I] played awesome in the final to beat Matt Lawrenson 21-12. Good confidence booster going into our MMTV match on Saturday.”

The winner of this match will return next month against a brand new challenger and Arfan will be desperate to keep his unbelievable run going.

As with every other MMTV event before it, there are also a further 5 matches, 2 of which will be televised live on Cuesport TV.

Lee Rigby plays Craig Waddingham on the TV table at 11am, this is followed by two local lads, Phil Newman and Jamie Yates taking the 2:30pm slot before the headline match, mentioned above, at 6pm.

There are then a further 3 matches on table two where live scoring will be offered on the live stream throughout the day.

Visit Money Match TV 13 for further details and to purchase the PPV offering.

Five Days Until Next Live 9-ball

It is now only 5 days away from the next live 9-ball action, Money Match TV 13, an event that features Arfan Dad v Matt Lawrenson as it’s headline match.

The two ‘headline’ players faced-off in the final of the British Amateur Championships on Sunday with Arfan Dad running out the 21-12 winner on the same table that will be used for the Money Match on Saturday.

This will undoubtedly give him the edge going into this hotly anticipated match. Arfan commented on his Facebook feed that he, “just won the british amateur 9 ball championships, played awesome in the final to beat Matt Lawrenson 21-12. Good confidence booster going into our mmtv match on Saturday.”

Now is a good time to sign-up for this match, Matt is going to be desperate for revenge but with the added pressure of playing for his own money, you cannot miss this edition of Money Match TV.

The event will be run on Pay-Per-View and it costs only £3.99 for a full days action, Buy Money Match TV 13.

Our system is secured using 128-bit SSL and uses PayPal for all transactions. Any issues with the payment please let us know and we deal with it as soon as we can.

TV Match Schedule:

11am – Lee Rigby v Craig Waddingham

2:30pm – Phil Newman v Jamie Yates

6pm – Arfan Dad v Matt Lawrenson
