Dick Jaspers has reversed the result in a repeat of last years AGIPI Billiards Masters final. Dutchman Jaspers, the current World Number 1, romped to victory with a 50-39 win over Sweden’s Torbjorn Blomdahl.
Blomdahl, last years winner, was quick out of the blocks and scored 4 points at his first visit. This soon got pegged back by Jaspers and made for a very close encounter. Blomdahl made the highest run of the match, 11 points, but even this was not enough to secure another title.
Although the margin of victory was 11 points, both players in their 19 innings averaged over 2 points per visit, astonishing, and certainly the best match of the entire tournament being saved for the final.
As a TV spectacle I am still unsure on 3-cushion, but it was refreshing to see something different.
