The September Collection

As with most people these days I spend some time browsing the web and finding useful and interesting stuff. Some of it related to the industry and some that is not! these links are presented as is and there is only a short description of what the link is about, I will leave it for you to decide if you like it or not.

Now Is The Time – A link to a forum thread (there are loads at the moment) over on Cue Club International about the EPA/IPA saga that will continue to go on for the foreseeable in my eyes.

10 Cool Tools for Marketing – This interested me due to the Facial recognition campaign being used by Unilever to give people Ice Cream bars for smiling!

First Foray into Google+ – I managed to get an invite to see what all the fuss was about, so link me up if you are currently using Google+

Wheelchair Blackball Final [VIDEO] – This deserved a mention in this random list due to it being the first ever European Blackball Wheelchair Championships final.

Your Playing Small Doesn’t Serve Anyone – Anybody interested in the Internet, marketing or business should follow this blog from Duct Tape Marketing. Some great ideas and snippets.

Twitter Feed of the Month

@ProSnookerBlog – How the guy finds the time I am not sure but an amazing Twitter feed for fans of snooker. Live tweets throughout tournaments, in depth coverage and almost instant ranking updates.

Facebook Page/Group of the Month

Rack ‘n’ Roll Pool Leagues & Tournaments – I picked this group simply due to the fact that it is regularly updated and commented upon by a core group of 9-ball pool enthusiasts in Leicester. Go and join in the fun!

If you have a Twitter feed or Facebook page/group that you think deserves a mention then please let me know.

On a Cuesport TV note: Thanks to the viewers that tuned in on 1st October for MMTV 15, plus keep checking the site over the coming week for new videos from the European Blackball Championships in Ireland.

Reliable?

Do you think this could be the most important trait in business and personal life?

I like to think that people can rely on me and I also like to think that viewers can rely on Cuesport TV to deliver a good viewing experience.

What are your thoughts?

Well Worth a Read

Not particularly related to pool or snooker but I read a number of business and marketing related books.

They interest me, especially web marketing and the new ‘social media’ phenomenon.

The one I have just read is a great book by Seth Godin, I stumbled across Seth’s blog about three months ago and avidly read his daily blog posts that now come through directly to my inbox. You can find his blog here: Seth Godin.

The writing style of the book I read is very much the style of his blog but with some case studies and slightly longer sections. The book in question is Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable

The idea of the Purple Cow is a simple one, get your business noticed by providing a product or service that is remarkable. In this day and age it is important to stand out from the crowd. There are a lot of practical examples in the book and it is a must read for any business owner, whether your company operates on the web or the high street and whether it is large or small.

Whilst I am on the subject, try this one as well: The New Rules of Marketing and PR: How to Use News Releases, Blogs, Podcasting, Viral Marketing and Online Media to Reach Buyers Directly

The next one on my list is also by Seth Godin, Tribes.

Click on the links and you can find the books directly at Amazon.

Have you read a great book recently? Please let me know, I would say it is my number one pastime outside of my work.
