Locals ‘Experience’ Professional Snooker
It was always going to be a tough ask for the six individuals from Bahrain that were given wildcard spots in the World Snooker Bahrain Championships.
These siz men have surely used the tournament to gain experience and will have played in front of a good crowd for the first time.
Snooker is of course progressing at a good speed in the middle east but the quality of the players has not yet reached that of other emerging nations such as China and to some extent Thailand. I am sure that Bahrains time will come and should this event remain a fixture on the calendar some of these players may emerge onto the world stage.
Tournaments away from the UK are great news for snooker and the more tournaments from across the globe that become fully-fledged ranking events the better, not only for the players but also for the growth of the sport.
