A Quiet Couple of Weeks

Fear not though fellow cue sport fans as there is plenty of video content available for you to peruse over at the VOD site.

Some top picks for you:

MMTV 12 – Kevin Uzzell v Matt Lawrenson – 11 of 11 – 9 Ball

Jamie Cope Interview – Snooker

Live events will return on the 29th October with Money Match TV 16, once again 3 live matches back-to-back and there is talk of Craig Osborne playing Chris Melling in this event.

The September Collection

As with most people these days I spend some time browsing the web and finding useful and interesting stuff. Some of it related to the industry and some that is not! these links are presented as is and there is only a short description of what the link is about, I will leave it for you to decide if you like it or not.

Now Is The Time – A link to a forum thread (there are loads at the moment) over on Cue Club International about the EPA/IPA saga that will continue to go on for the foreseeable in my eyes.

10 Cool Tools for Marketing – This interested me due to the Facial recognition campaign being used by Unilever to give people Ice Cream bars for smiling!

First Foray into Google+ – I managed to get an invite to see what all the fuss was about, so link me up if you are currently using Google+

Wheelchair Blackball Final [VIDEO] – This deserved a mention in this random list due to it being the first ever European Blackball Wheelchair Championships final.

Your Playing Small Doesn’t Serve Anyone – Anybody interested in the Internet, marketing or business should follow this blog from Duct Tape Marketing. Some great ideas and snippets.

Twitter Feed of the Month

@ProSnookerBlog – How the guy finds the time I am not sure but an amazing Twitter feed for fans of snooker. Live tweets throughout tournaments, in depth coverage and almost instant ranking updates.

Facebook Page/Group of the Month

Rack ‘n’ Roll Pool Leagues & Tournaments – I picked this group simply due to the fact that it is regularly updated and commented upon by a core group of 9-ball pool enthusiasts in Leicester. Go and join in the fun!

If you have a Twitter feed or Facebook page/group that you think deserves a mention then please let me know.

On a Cuesport TV note: Thanks to the viewers that tuned in on 1st October for MMTV 15, plus keep checking the site over the coming week for new videos from the European Blackball Championships in Ireland.

Return to Form

It is a sad state of affairs that our 8-ball coverage has been somewhat lacking over these last 18 months. But with the European Blackball Championships now complete we have a return to form this weekend with edition 15 of Money Match TV.

The event promises once again to be full of highlights, pressure, tension and of course some good quality pool. The match that needs a mention out of the three televised matches is the headline game. Mike Gibney finally plays Craig Dixon in a £2000.00 challenge. These two have wanted this game for a while but until now had not been able to arrange the details. Well now it is on we can all just get on and watch it, it will be tasty!

If you get in quick (like right now!) you can get access to the live stream for only £1.99 – that is 3 matches and about 9 hours worth of pool for less than the price of a pint!

If you enjoyed our coverage from the European Blackball Championships then until the videos are released (looking likely this will start to happen week beginning 3rd October 2011) then you can check out some great photos from the event taken by myself and James during the event. Can Osborne March On?

August has been a very interesting month for Craig Osborne. The Ipswich based cueist has had his second Main Tour win on the GB 9 Ball Tour, against old adversary Imran Majid, in what proved to be a very thrilling final.

He then followed this up by winning an amazing match against Matt Lawrenson at Money Match TV 14 in front of a sizeable crowd that were firmly behind his opponent.

There is no doubt that at the present time Osborne is the U’s most in-form player, the win at the GB9 event moved him up to his highest ranking of Number 2, just 7 points behind Imran Majid.

The tour returns this weekend with the Southern Masters, with the events all being held in the same venues now Osborne surely has a big chance to repeat his win three weekends ago?

You can, as ever, watch the GB9 Tour live on Cuesport TV. It is priced at £2.49 in advance and will increase to £4.99 over the weekend. Buy your tickets here: GB9 Southern Masters 2011

On the Saturday we have action from the Pro Cup event that will be down on numbers as Chris Melling and Tony Drago will not be around.

Who is likely to win this event? Have your say below.

Do You Have a Website?

This is a shout out to all of our viewers from across the world (110 different countries have been served video from Cuesport TV!) asking if you have or know a pool related website that would like to link to us?

We are looking for active websites like amateur league sites, snooker league websites and forums and blogs that share our passion for pool and snooker.

There is an additional angle to look at as well, very soon our embed and sharing functions will be live again allowing any website to play our video content (works a bit like YouTube) and share to social networks. This gives anyone the chance to have fresh content. If you think it fitting we can even create custom playlists especially for your website.

So, what websites are there out in the WWW that we should be paying attention to and sending out a contact email? Please list any websites that you know of from your local area in the comments below, the more the merrier.

Another Thriller

Craig Osborne was the big winner in yet another thrilling days pool at the Vegas Bar in Wakefield for Money Match TV 14.

His come from behind won left Matt Lawrenson and his travelling support winded as he potted the ball for a 21-20 victory.

Earlier in the same session Jamie Yates proved once again that he is no front runner with a 21-19 win over 16 year old Sam Hurst. Hurst was gutted after the loss as he was leading 19-15!

Other wins were enjoyed by Lee Brett, Mark Lunn, Elliott Sanderson and Mike Gibney.

Videos to follow.

Countdown is On

The match at 6pm tomorrow night between Lawrenson and Osborne is going to have an amazing atmosphere, so I am informed.

From what I understand there is a coach load of “up to 50″ people travelling with Matt from Wigan.

In the other corner Craig will only have one solitary fan, not because he is unpopular, but more due to the distance from Ipswich. If he can control the crowd (a la Adam Benn Smith v Andy Barnett) then he can win the game. On paper he is perhaps regarded as the more astute player but time will tell.

Matches start at 11.00am so sign up now at the usual web address to not miss a single ball!

Matt Lawrenson v Craig Osborne at MMTV 14

Money Match TV 14 is on Saturday 20th August, the headline match is our defending champion, Matt Lawrenson against Craig Osborne.

Lawrenson has already proven that he has some pedigree beating the 9-time MMTV champion Arfan Dad 21-12 last time out. In addition to this result Lawrenson also has a European Junior title to his name and a GB9 Challenge Cup win as well.

It is one of the most interesting match-ups we have seen at Money Match TV as there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Craig Osborne is a quality player. It will be his first outing at the Vegas Bar in front of the MMTV camera’s but he is no stranger to top level pool. The Ipswich based cueist recently lifted his second GB9 main tour title with a victory over Imran Majid at the Northern Masters just two weeks ago and before work commitments took precedence he was also a top 16 ranked player on the EPBF Eurotour.

The match is being played for a minimum £2000.00 per man with talk of possibly a £6000.00 total pot.

Whatever happens it will be a thriller with the usual race-to-21 racks, winner break format in operation. The player that can control the break will no doubt end up being the winner as has been proven by so many MMTV nights!

As ever there are a further 5 matches played throughout the day in 3 sessions, the schedule is below:

11am Session

TV Table – Tony Pyne v Lee Brett (Wild Card game)

Table Two – Elliott Sanderson v Barry Briggs (Sanderson is Champion)

2:30pm Session

TV Table – Lou Callaghan v Mike Gibney (Callaghan is Champion)

Table Two – TBC

6:00pm Session

TV Table – Matt Lawrenson v Craig Osborne (Lawrenson is Champion)

Table Two – Jamie Yates v Sam Hirst (Wildcard Game)

Watch all the action live at Cuesport TV. Priced at £3.99 on pay-per-view.

Drago on Fire

Tony Drago has turned up at this GB 9 Ball Tour event to stop himself from beating himself up over his loss in the Shanghai Masters qualifiers.

Well snooker’s loss for the weekend has certainly been pool’s gain. the charismatic Maltese cueist has thundered through the field to lift the Pro Cup title on Saturday against Karl Boyes, not bad for a part-time pool player.

Going into today, the main event, he has continued that form by defeating a very dejected Mark Gray in the last 64 (Gray has lost both of his matches this weekend in tough draws against Melling and then Drago) and then Mark Lunn to reach the last 16 stage.

It seems the only way that the ‘Tornado’ can get beaten is if he runs out of wind!
