3-cushion billiards is growing it’s fan base rapidly with the help that the Eurosport coverage has offered and this will be a spectacle certainly worth watching. For those not in the know, 3-cushion billiards is played on a slate bedded table with no pockets. The object of the game is to make a collision with your cue ball into an object ball, around 3-cushions to hit another object ball, this scores one point. The shot making is unbelievable at times as inordinate amounts of spin are used to score points by these top players.

First i have to say that i appreciate it very much to get live coverage of a 3 cushion event on TV.
I have a lot of respect for the guys who comment on tv, and perhaps i am asking for too much but playing 3-cushion billiard is much more than feeling and touch. It’s a game of technical skill, knowledge, muscle control and keeping yourself mentally under control.
It takes about ten years to get to the top if you have the best teachers and the necessary talent.
The speed of the balls, the amount of spin, cueing, playing defense, knowing the various diamond systems, serie playing ….. and a lot more are part of this game.
Maybe on live coverage, a top 3-cushion player can be invited to give real in dept commentary. No offense to those who give the comments now though, but it would make the coverage more interesting.
Anyway i am happy to see some 3 cushion billiard on TV at last
It was good to watch and the first time I have personally sat down and watched 3-cushion for any length of time. I know Dave Hendon and Clive Everton and both are accomplished snooker commentators, perhaps you are right, one of the players not participating may have been a better choice.
I agree that the game is highly skilled and would take years to master, not sure it is a TV spectacle though, but some great shot making all the same.
